MESO AWARENESS RUN - "Come Run With Me So Others May Live"
Thanks for coming to the second annual run for Mesothelioma with Tim Broadhurst!!!

Tim Broadhurst runs the Media 5 Miler for The Barney Harahan Fund for Mesothelioma - AGAIN

Dear Family & Friends,

It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since my last plea for your help. But let me tell you what a surprisingly huge success last year’s run was. The amount raised was just over $3800 and let me say that was a SHOCK! More importantly, though, was the level of awareness about Mesothelioma that was raised. I received nothing but support and encouragement from everyone I talked to.

The money that was raised last year went into the fund and planted the seed for something bigger to let people know about this nasty disease. The website www.mesosociety.org is now available so that you can visit to learn more about Mesothelioma. Along with the website came a walk-a-thon “Walk With Me So Others May Live” in Harrisburg, PA on April 25. The excitement leading up to the walk was just energizing. The week before the walk an article in The Delaware County Daily Times was written by Bette Alburger describing the disease and details about the walk with a picture of Barney. This half page article sent us through the roof because it really is what we were trying to accomplish. The walk itself was a huge success. It raised over $25,000 and we were visited by three local Harrisburg news crews. The walkers made their way through a small section of Harrisburg and up the rotunda steps at the Capitol. The whole day was both sad and thrilling at the same time and our group of family and friends of Mesothelioma victims were proud to accomplish this day of awareness in memory of the victims of Mesothelioma. Just to remind everyone ASBESTOS IS NOT BANNED IN THE UNITED STATES.

Now, I know some of you participated in the walk and your thinking “What more fundraising?”. I can understand. But, if you help someone else to learn about mesothelioma that is all we ask. If anyone decides to make a tax deductible donation for this run, then that would be just as great. The Chester County Community Foundation, which administers the fund, will acknowledge your gift and send a receipt for any gift over $250. The race is on June 18, 2004 so if you send your donation before then, it would be great. You can mail your checks to “The Barney Harahan Fund for Mesothelioma” c/o The Chester County Community Foundation, 28 West Market St., West Chester, PA 19382

I just want to thank everyone again for your help in the past and hopefully you’ll be able to help again this year.

Come run with me so others may live.

Love,

Tim
