Participants are
Those who have been exposed to asbestos either directly (self)or indirectly (proximity to another).
Those who are related to a person who has been exposed.
The Fox Chase Blood Study is a ten year study to gain FDA approval of a blood test to diagnose mesothelioma at an early, potentially curable stage. At present time, there is no cure for mesothelioma and no early diagnosis.
Participants, please mark your calendar for the Meso Society and Fox Chase Cancer Center blood draw on Thursday January 15th from 3 pm to 7 pm at Paoli Hospital, weather permitting. The alternate date, should there be a major snow or ice event, would be Thursday January 22cd, 2009
Paoli Hospital address is 255 West Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301. Participants should go directly to the outpatient lab and not to registration.
Enter the front doors of the hospital and follow the signs for the Outpatient Lab. If asking for directions at the desk, please note that you may be directed to registration first but should go directly to the outpatient lab as you will be registered at the lab.
Dr. Deborah Altomare of Fox Chase Cancer Center will speak to each peron individually to obtain a permission form and answer any questions of the each participant. The Meso Society will be there to answer questions about the Meso Society or the funded research.
